Review: Beauty-Maker Advanced Whitening Serum

Simply put, this product was a disappointment.
In general, most 'whitening' products don't hold much value for me.
However, if its marketed for that treatment, i do expect some complexion improvements.

As the name implies, it has a serum type texture.
The serum is light & quite moisturizing, but that's about it.
The scent is light & fresh. Not fruity, flowery, nor.... honestyly, i cant describe what i smell. LoL

[keeping in mind i haven't used the entire tube]
While i have not experienced any adverse affects by using these products, nor felt or seen any differences in tone or texture of my skin. ^.^

Cost: $21.99

Review: Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion SPF 60 +++

Speaking of sun protection.... i should probably do a review on the Shiseido sun lotion i had mentioned a few times in my last review. :)

This is the first department store brand sunblock i have ever tried. [i'm eye-ing one from one of the new skin care lines at Sephora... but as of right now i'm undecided] Honestly, i don't have much to say about it....

The spout looks like this:

LoL
Aaaand
The consistency is very runny.
The smell of 'Sunblock' is very prominent.
Not recommended under foundation unless...
you want to wait forever & ever for the product to absorb
or you don't mind your foundation only lasting a couple hours (-.-) *lame*

Cost: $39
Where: Sephora, Macy's, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, etc.

Honestly, its been awhile since i've used this product so if you have questions feel free to leave a comment. Thank you for stopping by! ^.^

Review: Neutrogena Sensitive Skin SPF 60+

Most often than not, i wear sunblock every day.  Typically, I'm not concerned about any SPF when it comes to shopping for cosmetics. So as a result, almost none of my face products contain even a smidgen of protection from those harmful rays.

A few of my favorite sunblocks come from Neutrogena! In general, their 'dry touch' formula is fabulous!  With this technology, there is never any 'film' left over on the skin. That is why their sunblocks are so wonderful right before foundation application! Since trying (& Loving) the Neutrogena ones; i've long since pushed the more expensive brands (ie. Shiseido) aside.

While the texture of the 'Sensitive Skin SPF 60+' sunscreen feels quite thick, it sheers out nicely & feels like nothing on the skin.

Like any sunscreen, there will always be 'that sunblock smell', but i must say the 'Sensitive Skin SPF 60+' barely has a scent at all. It's definitely there, but juuuuuust barely. ^.^ Trust me, it's one of the most neutral smelling sun protection i've ever come across. .:side note:.. the Shiseido sunblocks smell a lot more 'sunblock-y' than any in the 'dry touch' Neutrogena line.

So far i have had no interference with any of the ways my foundations apply, nor has it affected the longevity of any of them. d^.^b

My Routine: Due to my skin care routine, i do not rub the sunscreen into my skin. Instead, i warm up a pea sized amount into my hands & then press it onto my face. Any left over product is then rubbed into my neck.

Gripe: The flip lid makes it so that there is always a bit of left over product that tends to dry up around the spout. So the annoying aspect of this is that every time i flip the top open, inevitably, i must also peel away the dry bits before continuing my morning routine. *shakes fist*

Cost: $6-$8
Where: Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, Longs, Target etc.

Product Rave: Mario Badescu Drying Cream

Mario Badescu Drying Cream

Long story short... After a wonderfully fun, but harmful-to-my-skin theatre makeup course, i desperately needed to cure and heal my cystic ridden face. Thanks to the inundated dimethicone world, it has been about two years of ups and downs. I have changed and tried acne and skincare products too many times to remember. Nothing seemed to work "like magic" or worked at all for that matter. Its very likely that nothing ever does work like so, but gee golly i sure wish there was a product! I'd call it MAGIC! simply because thats what it would be. haha

Since discovering the Mario Badescu line my skin is very much on its everlasting clear skin way. I swear by this product!!! Never has a product, whether a cleanser or topical treatment, worked so effectively in a relatively short amount of time. Within one week i noticed a difference. AMAZING! It shrunk (like really dried out) the existing erupted areas and prevented horrible cystic monsters from coming alive. (^.^) SCORE!

The texture of this cream is very thick and tacky. The color is a light yellowish tan and very opaque. One does not need a lot at all. So at $12 a pop the moderately sized tub will definitely last you a long time. I purchased mine at Ulta last october and still have some left. While it has only been about four months, i do use A LOT of this stuff and its still has yet to be dunzo.

Side Note: if i use up a skincare product, does that count towards Project Ten Pan?

Not only do i use this twice a day, but i also use it on the majority of my face as a blemish preventer. Due to the ingredient Dimethicone (a silicon derived substance) i cannot use many other products (Dimethicone = Cystic Acne... at least for my skin) such as primers. So the Mario Badescu drying cream acts kind of like a primer for me as well.

Gripe: One con that many may have is the smell. I cannot precisely depict the smell for you, but i know it isn't a pleasant one. However, it is not a strong scent and once rubbed into the skin you can't smell it at all.

Tip: Two recommendations i have is to use a moisturizer because, like the name implies, this is a drying product. The other is to not over do it because your skin will just not be able to absorb too much of this thick cream and you will be spending a long long time rubbing it in.

Cost: $12 anywhere Mario Badescu is sold ie. Ulta
Rate: 9.8/10 d(^.^)b

03-29-2011 Update: i no longer use this product & i will do an updated skincare/ acne treatment post in the near future.

Project Ten Pan: Fail!

So many many months ago i embarked on the lovely lollipop26 Project Ten Pan. Needless to say, for me it was a complete failed attempt over and over again. Every month i would Tweet about a new journey to complete PTP and end up purchasing something from some new collection.

For a bit, i got into swapping to rid myself of products that i could or would no longer use. I find comfort in finding loving homes for products i find have the absence of use in my drawers. Don't you? :) While i was quite enjoying the swapping system, the weather started to change and the roads became quite treacherous. That alone killed the swapping experience. So now i'm back to selectively purchasing and always contemplating another PTP vow. :D

I never mean to be so dramatic about such a topic as makeup, but i do think it to be quite fun and comical.

In all honesty it has become quite an addiction, if you will, that perhaps needs an intervention of some sort. If kept accountable, perhaps my will to persevere will be stronger. Miss lollipop26 has surely inspired me to try again and try harder with her current ban on any lip products.

After a bit of thought, I fear i must confess that in just a few hours i will hold in my possession the Urban Decay Alice in Wonderland Book of Shadows. i know i know. i don't need it. Even though it is pretty (very cute indeed) i had convinced myself earlier that i didn't even want it. That was until now, when it seems to be nearly impossible to find... so naturally, i must have it. Completely LAME? Yes, i would say so. What can i say? *sigh* I'm a complete sucker for these arbitrary consumer tactics. (>.<)

Comment: Have you tried Project Ten Pan? Would you like to join me? :)

First Blog Review- Neutrogena Triple Moisture Hair Mask

Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Conditioning Hair Mask

This hair mask is the BEST i have ever tried. i normally would not need such a 'heavy' duty conditioning hair product, but since highlighting, perming, and dying my hair all within six months, i NEED it. ha ha After i got my hair highlighted in May '09 i noticed my once smooth, soft, shiny hair become a bit dry and stringy. So i went to my local walgreens or target... can't remember because i've had this mask forever. ha ha

At the time, all i would need is a nickel size dollop that i would rub between my hands then evenly spread into my freshly washed medium to long hair. (its about 3-4 inches longer than my shoulder) The back of the tiny 'tub' (its really a jar ha ha) says to leave it in your damp hair for 3-5 minutes... i do not know exactly how long i actually leave the creamy mask in my hair (i basically do what ever else i need to do in the shower)... and then i just rinse it out.

After perming my hair to get loose waves, my hair is now extremely dry and easily tangled. Due to the more fragile condition of my hair, i now take a nice palm sized dollop and do the same. It tames the craziness and if i sleep on slightly damp hair, my hair is straight, smooth, and just effortless really.

tip: make sure to squeeze the excess water out of your hair before you apply the mask.

Gripe: The packaging. Its in a jar... So its a little more difficult to put the cap back on and i'm just not a fan of digging my fingers into product. (PLUS their daily conditioner from the same Triple Moisture line works just as well and its in a squeezy tube! Love!)

Cost: $6-$8 BUT its drugstore so look out for sales! :)
